Description

Welcome to Phil's Gills! We strive to breed the best and healthiest livestock for your aquatic pets. Thank you for looking and happy pet keeping!

You are purchasing a bulk lot of 100+ Live Ramshorn Snails (Planorbidae). These snails were born and raised in my breeding room. They are raised on a varied diet of high-quality sinking pellets, algae wafers, and blanched vegetables, ensuring fast growth, strong shells, and high nutritional value. These snails will ship in a flat rate box for 2 to 3 day shipping depending on your location. Please note that occasionally flat rate can take 4 days, but this is not common and is out of our control.

General Information — Ramshorn Snails (Ideal Live Food Culture)

The Ramshorn Snail (Planorbidae) is a classic, highly active, and rapid-breeding species. Because of their excellent meat-to-shell ratio and highly nutritious profile, this pack of 100+ snails is widely considered an exceptional, high-protein live food source and enrichment package for specialized aquatic predators like Pea Puffers, Turtles, Loaches, and Crayfish.

The Perfect Feeders: Ramshorn snails offer a meatier snack than other pest snails. While juveniles are easily crushed by Pea Puffers and Loaches, medium and larger sizes provide great foraging enrichment for heavy-clawed predators like Turtles and Crayfish. Cracking the shells helps wear down growing beaks naturally.
Excellent Calcium Source: The distinct spiral shells of these snails are highly beneficial for your predators. Crushing and consuming the shells provides essential calcium, which is critical for turtle shell health and crayfish exoskeleton development after a molt.
Instant Colony: A count of 100 snails gives you plenty of immediate feeders while providing an excellent baseline population if you choose to breed them yourself. They reproduce rapidly at room temperature with basic feeding.
Tank Setup: They can survive in almost any aquatic environment. If maintaining a feeder culture tank, a simple sponge filter, some java moss, or floating plants will help them multiply rapidly.
Water Conditions: They thrive in a pH of 7.0–8.0 and a temperature between 68°F–78°F. Moderately hard water with adequate calcium is recommended if you are breeding them to ensure fast, strong shell development.
Diet: In a culture tank, they are exceptional utility animals and clean-up crews. They feed heavily on fish food flakes, algae wafers, decaying leaves, and film algae. The better they eat, the faster they reproduce!
