This listing is for 6 Red Tiger Medaka, a striking and less commonly available variety of Japanese rice fish.
I selectively breed this line for a vibrant orange-red base color combined with subtle black spotting and darker markings across the body. My goal is not an overly dark fish, but a balanced Red Tiger appearance where the bright orange-red coloration remains dominant and the black patterning adds contrast without overwhelming it.
This line has been selected specifically for:
Because these are living animals, each fish will have its own unique pattern. Some may display lighter peppering, while others may develop more noticeable black markings as they mature.
Color and pattern can continue to improve with age, quality nutrition, outdoor sunlight, and appropriate environmental conditions.
Red Tiger Medaka are a distinctive ornamental rice fish variety known for combining warm orange or red coloration with irregular black pigmentation. They are especially attractive when viewed from above in outdoor tubs, patio ponds, and mini ponds.
They are active, peaceful, hardy, and suitable for both experienced breeders and hobbyists who are newer to Medaka.
Medaka are best kept in groups and should be provided with clean, well-oxygenated water without excessive current.
The listing photos are intended to represent the general appearance, quality, and breeding direction of this line. You may not receive the exact individual fish pictured unless specifically stated.
Color may appear different depending on lighting, background, camera settings, age, diet, and whether the fish are viewed from above or from the side. Black spotting may also develop or become more pronounced as the fish mature.
Fish will be carefully packed for shipment. Please monitor tracking and arrange to receive the package promptly. Do not allow the box to remain outdoors in direct sunlight, freezing temperatures, or extreme heat.
DOA protection is for Next Day Air only. In the unlikely event of a loss, please contact me within 1 hour with two pictures: one of the unopened bag and another of the fish out of the bag.
