Cholla wood provides a place for bio film to grow which is the number one food for shrimp.
The wood provides a natural hide out for recently molted shrimp and berried females. It will gradually lower ph and soften water as well. These are nice thick pieces and should last quite a long time in your tank. You can even use them for a place to attach moss and plants like Anubias and Buce.
