Beschreibung

Chapalichthys pardalis, collection location Presa de San Juanico. ESU is Chapa2. Formerly called C peraticus. This is an active Goodeid that can reach 3 inches in size. They are a pretty fish with a bright silver background and numerous black dots. Females are as good looking as the males. They are omnivores and benefit from some algae in their diet. They do well in cooler water, I keep mine in a 10 foot by 2 foot pond style tank in an old barn and winter ‘cool down’ temperatures of 64 degrees seems to benefit them.

I am a retired high school science teacher and my aquarium focus is on wild type Swordtails, Goodeids, IFGA show guppies, and low tech plants. I want you to be successful with my fish. Questions are welcome.

7 Juvenile Nezzie Swordtails

Xiphophorus nezahualcoyotl is a wild type swordtail from the Rio Tamasi near San Luis Potosí, Mexico. They are a smaller, husky fish that is active and will sometimes eat their own young. Coming from a mountainous region they can tolerate cooler water, I keep mine in a 10 foot by 3 foot pond type tank at 64 to 75 degrees F (depending on the season). They like moderately hard water.
