We are a small home-based aquatics breeder in California (Bay Area) focused on raising healthy, beautiful freshwater livestock with care. Our aquatics currently include home-bred
•Betta fish (Betta splendens)
•Guppies (Poecilia reticulata)
•Neocaridina shrimp (Neocaridina davidi) including Red Cherry and Blue Diamond varieties
Our bettas, guppies, and shrimp are bred and raised in-house from our own breeding stock. This allows us to follow our animals from birth or hatch through development and maintain knowledge of their parentage and breeding lines.
Our individual bettas are photographed and described based on their actual appearance, including coloration, finnage, sex, and other identifiable characteristics whenever possible. Because many of our fish are still developing, coloration and iridescence may continue to change as they mature.
As Backyard Roots & Aquatics grows, we plan to offer additional freshwater livestock, aquatic plants, snails, and other naturally grown selections from our backyard.
