Betta coccina is a beautiful wild betta species native to the peat swamp forests of Sumatra, Indonesia. Renowned for its striking ruby-red coloration and elegant appearance, this species is one of the most iconic members of the Betta coccina complex. Adult fish typically reach around 4–6 cm in total length and thrive in soft, acidic blackwater environments rich in tannins. Males display intense red hues, especially during courtship and territorial displays.
