15 freshly cut stems of Alternanthera reineckii (also known as AR) grown submersed in a low to medium light low tech aquarium. The reds of this plant in my tanks are muted because of the lower light level. Placed in a higher light situation the red color becomes much more vivid. This plant is a vigorous grower for me, the easiest “red” plant I have tried.
I like snails and scuds- I believe they are an indispensable part of a healthy, thriving tank biome. Although I carefully rinse plants prior to shipping, you are almost guaranteed to receive snails or eggs (possibly scuds) on my plants. I recommend a Clorox or alum dip to eliminate hitchhikers if you don’t want them.
I am a retired high school science teacher and my focus in the aquarium hobby is on Goodeids, Xiphophorus, and IFGA Show Guppies. I also keep a few strains of neocaridina shrimp, mostly blue dream. I keep low tech, easy to grow plants in all tanks. The aquarium hobby holds a high interest for me and I want you to be successful with my fish and plants. Questions are welcome.
