Description

The Albino Pygmy Corydoras (Corydoras pygmaeus or Gastrodermus pygmaeus) is a tiny, peaceful freshwater catfish known for its pinkish-white body, red eyes, and active midwater swimming behavior.

Key Characteristics

Size: Reaches only about 0.75 to 1 inch (0.5 to 0.75 inches for some variants) as an adult.
Appearance: Pale, translucent white to cream body with pink-red eyes and a missing or very faint lateral stripe.
Behavior: Unlike traditional bottom-dwelling catfish, they frequently swim and school in the middle of the water column.
Social Needs: They are highly social and must be kept in groups of at least 6 to 10 fish to feel secure.

Tank Requirements

Minimum Tank Size: 10 gallons.
Water Parameters: Temperature of 72–82°F (22–28°C), pH of 6.0–7.5, and soft to moderately hard water.
Environment: Prefers a planted tank with a fine sand substrate, gentle filtration, and shaded areas or floating plants since albino fish can be sensitive to bright lighting.
Compatibility: Safe to keep with shrimp, snails, and other peaceful nano fish. Avoid aggressive or large tankmates.

Diet Omnivorous: They accept micro-sinking pellets, crushed flakes, frozen baby brine shrimp, daphnia, and micro-worms. Currently eating very well on Pygmy Bites and we'll include a sample to help with the acclimation.
