About the Fish

These Short Body Blue Koi guppies are from my home-bred line at High Desert Aquatics. Males have a bright blue nose, blue tail, and blue pattern down the body.. Females show blue in the tail and many develop the same blue nose and body colors as the line improves. The short body shape gives them a chunky, compact look compared to standard guppies.

They are raised in normal Reno tap water (pH ~7.2-7.8) at 70–78°F on a varied diet of quality flakes, pellets, and frozen foods. These are hardy, active fish. They are truly “real world” fish—used to seasonal swings, normal tap water, and regular aquarium conditions, not pampered in ultra-controlled systems.

What You’ll Receive

-2 young males and 2 young females (2 pairs)

-A few extra fry/juveniles when available as a DOA buffer and to help start your colony

-Fish will be similar quality to the parents shown in the photos (photos are of my actual breeding stock)

-Fish are shipped at a size where they are already sexable and either breeding or close to breeding age.

About High Desert Aquatics

High Desert Aquatics is a small, hobby-scale fish room based in Reno, Nevada. All fish I sell are bred and raised by me in my tap water at normal home aquarium temperatures—real-world conditions, not pampered in doctored RO water or showroom systems. My fishroom experiences seasonal temperature swings, changing tap water and changing schedules. I work full-time and run this as a side hobby to support my fish addiction and my family, so I focus on a few select lines and keep quality high. Healthy, hardy, home-bred stock that will thrive for anyone is always the priority.

Shipping & DOA Policy

All fish, shrimp and snails are shipped via USP 2nd Day. Price ranges from $20-30 typically. I can upgrade to UPS Overnight as well. Please reach out for a shipping quote before bidding. Both options ship in a well-insulated box with a heat pack if needed. Fish are bagged individually when possible, or in small groups of two, to reduce stress and limit potential losses. In the rare event of a DOA (dead on arrival), please send clear photos of the unopened bag within two hours of delivery for a refund on the lost livestock. Please let me know if there are any issues as soon as possible and I will do my best to make things right.

Shipping days are Monday and Tuesday to reduce the chance of fish being stuck in transit over a weekend. Depending on your location, transit times are usually 2–4 days. If the weather is too hot or too cold, shipping may be delayed for the safety of the fish. I will reach out with an expected shipping plan after purchase. Shipping is available to the continental US only (no Alaska or Hawaii, sorry!).
