It pulls from the bottom, allowing better circulation of aquarium water and it keeps the bottom of the aquarium extremely clean. The water proceeds through course media then into the clear acrylic chamber where polyester filter fiber removes the finest particulate matter. This filter comes with the media and is ready to use. The “Rocket Filter” tm is great in Discus Angelfish Guppy and Killie set ups – replacing most filters.  The “Rocket Filter” tm is a very good nitrifying filter, and you will be able to tell when it needs to be clean by the color change on the fiber material It will go from white to dark brown– No ammonia spikes or slime build up. The “Rocket Filter” will also Oxygenate the water.
