It ranges across three countries, but only the Peruvian streams give it this blue head. That's where we found ours.

Give it caves and leaf litter and it settles fast. The male flares at his own reflection, and the female goes yellow and takes over the tank when she has fry.

Care: Dwarf cichlid, harem cave spawner. Soft, acidic water, pH 5.5 to 7, TDS 50 to 150, 70 to 78°F. Adult size about 3 inches. A 15 to 20 gallon tank with caves and leaf litter. Eats flake, baby brine shrimp, and frozen bloodworms.

If any fish arrives DOA, send a clear photo or video of the UNOPENED bag within 12 hours of delivery and we will replace the fish, or refund the cost of that fish if no replacement is available. The guarantee covers the value of the fish only, not shipping. A replacement ships once the buyer pays shipping again.

UPS 2-Day Air: lower shipping cost, but NO Live Arrival Guarantee. 2-Day available in mild weather only, at buyer's risk. Fish spend an extra day in transit with no coverage for losses.

Weather hold: For the safety of live fish, we delay shipping during extreme heat or cold at the origin, along the transit route, or at your destination. If your ship date shifts for weather, we'll message you with the new date. Fish always ship Monday through Wednesday so they never sit in a facility over the weekend.

We ship within the continental US only. Due to strict live-animal import rules, we cannot ship internationally or to Hawaii.
