There's one Apistogramma that carries its babies in its mouth, and it lives in a single river system in northeast Peru. This is that fish!

A devoted parent and a quiet showman, until another male shows up. Keep one male per tank and watch the whole story happen in front of you.

Care: Dwarf cichlid, and a rare biparental mouthbrooder. Soft, acidic water, pH 5.5 to 7, TDS 50 to 150, 70 to 78°F. Adult size about 2.5 inches. A 15 to 20 gallon tank with fine sand and caves. Eats flake, baby brine shrimp, and frozen bloodworms.

UPS 2-Day Air: lower shipping cost, but NO Live Arrival Guarantee. 2-Day available in mild weather only, at buyer's risk. Fish spend an extra day in transit with no coverage for losses.

Weather hold: For the safety of live fish, we delay shipping during extreme heat or cold at the origin, along the transit route, or at your destination. If your ship date shifts for weather, we'll message you with the new date. Fish always ship Monday through Wednesday so they never sit in a facility over the weekend.

We ship within the continental US only. Due to strict live-animal import rules, we cannot ship internationally or to Hawaii.
