Amazon Puffer, Colomesus asellus

Most puffers need salt. Not this one. It lives in pure freshwater, all the way up the Amazon to Pucallpa, Peru. A river fish with a beak and a personality.

A social puffer. Keep one on its own, or three or more together, where they cruise as a gang, watching you back through the glass and begging at every feeding.

Care: Freshwater puffer. pH 6 to 7.5, TDS 50 to 250, 72 to 78°F. Adult size about 4 inches. A 40 gallon tank. Eats blackworms and frozen bloodworms.

Weather hold: For the safety of live fish, we delay shipping during extreme heat or cold at the origin, along the transit route, or at your destination. If your ship date shifts for weather, we'll message you with the new date. Fish always ship Monday through Wednesday so they never sit in a facility over the weekend.
