Description

The Electric Blue Acara is a freshwter South American cichlid that's prized for it's vibrant electric blue color. Growing to about 6 or 7 inches, it can be a great centerpiece for a larger aquarium. It is a relatively peaceful cichlid that is a good choice for beginners as it makes a great comunity tank mate.

They will like their water to be 72-82 degrees and pH between 7 and 7.5. They can also live in a variety of aquariums including planted tanks, prefering sandy substrate, driftwood and rocks.

They are active swimmers and can be dominant, but are generally peaceful. Although they can become aggressive during breeding.

They can coexist with other fish of similar size, such as medium to large tetras, barbs, Angelfish, Severums, and other peaceful cichlids. Avoid smaller tankmates and very agressive cichlids like Jack Dempseys.
