The Pseudomugil gertrudae, spotted blue-eye "Aru IV", also known as the delicate blue-eye, Gertrude's blue-eye, or northern blue-eye, is a species of freshwater ray-finned fish in the family Pseudomugilidae. This dwarf rainbowfish is found in rivers in southern New Guinea, the Aru Islands, and the Northern Territory and Cape York Peninsula (Queensland) in Australia. Body size, shape and color can vary. It adapts readily to captivity and can be kept in a small freshwater aquarium and will breed readily. At maturity, the spotted blue-eye can grow up to 1" to 1.25". Similar to the pseudomugil luminatus, the Spotted Blue-eye "Aru IV" is an active, but peaceful, community fish that thrives in groups of 6 or more. Coloration is fantastic but can vary depending on lighting and surroundings. The contrast in a planted tank really makes their color pop. And their blue eyes are just mesmerizing!
