Maintaining proper Carbon Dioxide (Co2) levels in the planted aquarium is one of the most important factors in the health of the ecosystem. A Co2 drop checker is an essential tool for monitoring CO2 levels in the aquarium. The Co2 drop checker is a reservoir designed to contain an indicator solution and an airspace.
When the drop checker is submerged in the aquarium, the carbon dioxide will out gas from the aquarium water into the airspace of the drop checker and will eventually be absorbed into the indicator solution. The carbon dioxide gas will seek a point of equilibrium between the indicator solution and the aquarium water. As equilibrium is achieved, the color of the indicator solution inside of the drop checker will change based on the concentration of CO2 in the aquarium water.
Brand New Drop Checker made of Glass
Continuous monitor Co2 content in your aquarium
Blue-insufficient Co2, Green-sufficient Co2, Yellow-excess Co2
This Drop Checker comes with pipette and suction cup
Ready To Use, Nothing Else Needed.
1. Using the free included pipette, pull 1.5 ml of the pre-mixed liquid from the bottle and transfer to the drop checker bowl. The pipette has been shortened for the pictures, you will receive a full size one.
2. Now invert the assembly being careful not to spill the fluid.
3. Next, holding it level, mount the checker anywhere on the glass inside the tank 1 or 2 inches down from the water line so that air is trapped in the vessel. Check the color in a hour or two and make adjustments to your Co2 flow.
Coming soon, they are on their way are electric solenoid switches to turn off the Co2 at night, they are a must have. I'll be listing the pre mixed 4dkH with reagent soon. Also 4dKH alone in larger bottles if you prefer to mix your own. Never use tank water to mix with the reagent.
Just fill your Drop Checker and you are ready for constant monitoring. Check back here at aquabid or send me an email at email@example.com to keep updated on accessories for your planted tanks.
If you are not using a solenoid to turn the Co2 off at night or doing it manually, I recommend getting a small air pump, air stone and a timer to turn on the air stone at night to reduce the Co2. Plants only use Co2 in the light. There is a lot of information on the net about Co2 in planted tanks, Google it an you'll have an evenings reading.
