Hi there!
I'm currently tinkering with aquaponics for the aquariums at my house. Trying to turn fish poo into food. Nothing major, but I have had some limited success with Malawi, West Africa and el-cheapo $.13 per fish goldfish from the LFS. Using the Malawi and West Africans allows me try different pH and GH water parameters. I'm currently in the process of incorporating a great many DIY adaptations to minimize electricity use and I'm trying to create artifical closed loops where the various aquariums are more self sufficient than not.
What I raise
I raise various tetras, mollies, peacocks, mbuna, jewels, goldfish and convicts. The goldfish are in a system that grows tomatoes, peppers and beans. The mbuna and peacocks are in a work in progress that I'll try various kitchen herbs, vegetables and maybe some perenials in. I've got high hopes for these guys since they like to eat algae which is what I grow best! The jewels are producing marjoram, thyme, basil and garlic chives.
