What we do
MOUNTAIN TOP HATCHERY has been breeding Angelfish and Discus for nearly 20 years. We will go the extra mile to make sure you are happy with the fish we sell to you, our valued customer. When you purchase Discus or Angelfish from us you will receive healthy fish raised in as close to the same water conditions as those found in their native waters as possible. Who knows better what kind of water they belong in than the one who created them? All Discus and Angelfish over four weeks of age are kept using the same water conditions. The Hardness is 20 to 40 ppm, the PH is 6.4 to 6.8, and the temperature is 82 degrees for Angelfish and 84 degrees for Discus. If you would like to purchase fish from us please make sure your tank conditions are in this range when you receive them. If you want to keep them in hard alkaline water you need to make the change slowly with small water changes. You may need to buy reverse osmosis water to mix with your tap water when you set the tank up to receive the fish. Then use less reverse osmosis water with each water change over a period of a few weeks until you have them in your tap water. Buying water for a short period is much less expensive than the cost of killing your new fish from ph or osmotic shock. We are a very specialized breeder with several thousand breeding age, tank raised angelfish. At this time we have angelfish with many different genetic combinations, some of which look identical but produce different color (phenotypes) of offspring. We specialize in (heterozygous) hybrid breeding pairs that produce several types of fry for the small breeder with limited tank space who would like to have many colors to sell. We offer live arrival plus 4 hrs on Fedex Priority Overnight Shipping and any DOAs must be returned for credit. You must accept delivery on the first attempt and contact us within the 4 hr limit for live arrival to be valid. We can ship airport to airport on very large orders for a shipping cost savings. We do not refund shipping charges and buyer is responsible for shipping charges for replacement fish. We also design and build custom water filtration systems in all sizes for the small breeder to large fish farms to reduce the use of treatment chemicals and reduce fry loss to the treatment processes now being used such as chorine and chloramines. The treatment chemicals being added to public water such as phosphates, sodium hydroxide (Lye), fluoride, and many more are responsible for the deaths of many tropical fish these days and we have the knowledge and ability to solve these problems at fair prices. If you have problems losing fry or adults after a water change we may be able to help you prevent those loses and reduce the amount of water conditioners used for a cost savings and have better quality water at the same time.
