JustMe Page For: Angelfishnmore

Angelfishnmore Just Me Page

Hello!
Just a little about myself: I've been raising and selling angels since 1981. I'm retired military and now own a pet store, and I like to feature high-quality angelfish. I don't have the time to raise my own any longer, so I mostly buy directly from breeders.

Acclimating Your New Fish
I have been using the following method to acclimate my fish with great success and ask that you do the same when buying my fish. Float the fish bags unopened in your tank for at least 15 minutes to equalize the temperature. Next, gently pour the fish into a small bucket, and using some airline tubing, tie a knot in one end and start a siphon, drawing water from your tank, adjusting the knot so that a just barely steady stream of water drips into the bucket. After 30 minutes, you should have about 3 times the amount of water in the bucket that you started with. Net the fish into the tank, and discard the water in the bucket. I also like to raise the aquarium temperature to about 85-86 degrees over a two day period and leave it there for a week. It should prevent the fish from developing ick, which sometimes happens due to the stress of shipping. After a week, you can slowly lower the temp over a few days back to 78-80 degrees. You should ALWAYS quarantine your new fish for a week to 10 days before introducing into your community tank.
