Hello folks! Happy July!! Earlier in one of my offerings I was ranting about breeding Pseudomugil cyanodorsalis, Blueback Blue Eye Rainbows in buckets here in the fish room and I decided to photograph some and offer some of them for auction so one of you nut cases can try your luck messing with them too. These fish are pretty RARE in the USA and the only reason I got some is because I was lucky enough to get some eggs from a group I was auctioning off for a friend of mine a while back. I only had the fish in my fish room for 8 days so when I packed them up to ship and checked the mops I had tossed in with them I was thrilled to find about 20 eggs they had laid while I was holding them. These are a Dwarf Blue Eye Rainbow. And I mean dwarf. Full grown adults top out at a little less than 1 1/2 inches. The fish I am breeding are about 3/4 of an inch right now and have not reached full adult size. They don't even fully look like adults yet but they sure are cranking out some eggs. And the eggs are BIG. Big enough so that I can see them easily and I could pick each one off the mops just like we can with Rice fish and Killies. HERE is a GREAT article on what these fish are all about along with a wonderful photo of a group of full sized Males. In a nutshel-l when I got these the breeder was keeping them in 1/2 strength salt water. About 1012 on a hydrometer. I matched that using synthetic sea salt (Instant Ocean brand) and over the last few Months I kept using less salt and am I now am keeping them basically in fresh water that I add a small amount of non iodized table salt to. When I do a water change on them I add a teaspoon of salt to each gallon of water I change. In other words I could keep these in with just about any freshwater fish right now cuz 1 teaspoon of salt ain't going to effect anything. I absolutely think I could stop using salt altogether and these fish would do just fine. I know at one teaspoon per gallon they are still breeding like there's no tomorrow. Win this offering and I will send you 6 from my breeding group. You will receive 2 Males and 4 Females. I will also send you 2 brand new Mops to collect eggs on plus some Golden Pearls to feed them. You can breed them in a tank as small as 2 1/2 gallons with ease or even get crazy like I am and try your luck with them in a bucket with a sponge filter. Seeing this is a "Lotsoffish offering" I will also include a group of 6 awesome little Pseudomugil gertrudae I am also messing with. You WILL receive BOTH SEXES of those too. These also spawn the exact same way as these Blueback Blue Eye's and are a ton of fun to breed. Don't go by what my photo's of them look like, do a Google search for "Pseudomugil gertrudae" to see how cool these little rainbows end up looking at full grown. That's a total of 12 Blue Eye Dwarf Rainbows, 6 of each species plus 2 mops plus high quality foods for them. I'll tell you what, allow me to SHIP in a timely manner and I will even toss in some young egg scatterers I think you will get into trying your luck with too! Shipping on ALL my offerings is always FREE and I Guarantee live arrival of HEALTHY fish! Have fun with your tanks folks! That's what you bought them for!
This is the 2 1/2 gallon bucket I have been breeding these fish in! I am raising fry in the 5 gallon cat littler buckets below it too! These are the 2 other buckets of even younger Pseudomugil cyanodorsalis I am raising by simply moving mops to them from the breeding groups bucket These are 2 photos looking up and down the isles of my fish room right now. I have fry and stuff breeding is ALL those buckets! Now do you see why I am always in a hurry to ship stuff out? There's no more room to set up more buckets! My fish room is totally packed with stuff too young to sell right now! As usual things are out of control cuz I am screwing around with too much stuff. Ain't this a GREAT HOBBY? LOL!
These are old photo's of some Young Pseudomugil gertrudae I was messing with a few years ago.
Allow me to SHIP in a timely manner and I will send you some Young Egg Scatterers you can try your luck with too!
