Pearl Eartheater Cichlid Geophagus brasiliensis

One of the first South American cichlids ever kept in the hobby, it is easy to see how this lovely cichlid has captivated fish-keepers for generations. Displaying namesake pearly spots on a greyish-green body, this fish erupts into a rainbow of iridescent hues during spawning. Pearl cichlids grow up to 11", so be sure to provide enough space, slightly acidic water, and areas of sandy substrate for them to sift. Hardy and undemanding, these fish are suitable for even the beginner aquarist.
