2 Sheets Techni-Ice HDR 4 ply

cat not included.

You are bidding on TWO sheets of Techni-Ice HDR 4 ply, USPS 1st Class Mail is included in the price. Additional sheets are available at winning bid price. Each sheet is 11" x 15.75" and contains 24 cells. Unlike a traditional one-size-fits-all gel icepack, you can use more or less cells depending on your needs. When hydrated they weigh a bit over 1 ounce each. If you are shipping by weight I don't have to tell you how much an extra ounce of weight can cost you. Or how much you can save by reducing the weight by an ounce...

The saturated gel freezes a bit more slowly than the same amount of plain water. Then in use, it is able to absorb more heat than the same amount of water. The maker's claims of "lasts longer than ice" seems to defy logic if they both start out at the same 0F but the gel acts like a very weak PCM (google phase change material).

Traditional gel cold packs are filled with a tiny bit of a water absorbing polymer gel and a bunch of water. Convenient but cost a lot to buy and have shipped, then take up space being stored. These icepacks are compartmented plastic filled with the dry granules but no water. When you want to use them you cut the desired number of cells from the sheet, hydrate with tap water and pop in the freezer overnight. Or hydrate and freeze a whole sheet then use it over a cooler of food on your next camping trip. Wrap a strip in a handkerchief and wear it around your neck the next time you have to mow the lawn in surface-of-the-sun temps. I have some of these in the freezer year round.

The wrapper is extremely durable, not just a thin layer of plastic, the HDR is for Heavy Duty Reusable, it's reinforced. No slippery gel gooshing out all over the place if they are handled roughly.

These are made by an Australian company and I have seen them sold on Amazon if you want to read more about them. I find the manufacturer's description and claims to be a bit confusing and very optimistic but it's there if you want to check it out. These do not act as a true dry ice replacement unless frozen to dry ice temps (-109F). I don't know about you but my freezer doesn't get that cold.
