Cryptocoryne usteriana is one of the taller cryptocorynes and is very easy to grow. Leaves are 3-5 cm wide with an embossed surface; they can easily reach more than 50 cm length. With good light and fertilization, the upper side of the leaves will obtain a dark green or bronze-green color while the back of the leaves will turn burgundy red. Propagation is by long runners, and the plant tolerates quite alkaline water very well. Understanding Crypt melt - all Cryptocoryne species require stable water parameter and light conditions. Once planted, crypts should not be moved. It generally takes up to 30 days for a crypt to become established. Within a couple days of planting, any significant change in temperature, pH, hardness, nutrient, light intensity or duration, or root disturbance may cause the plant to 'melt' and disintegrate to mush. If this occurs, the roots tend to live, and new leaves may appear within several days or weeks, sometimes months. You will receive one(1) bare root plant. If buying more than one plant I combine shipping, please check out my other plant items. Shipping will be by USPS priority mail $6.50 for eastern states and $7.50 for western states.
