Description

YOU'RE BIDDING FOR 1 stem of HYGROPHILA 'TIGER' plus SHIPPING $6.50 flat rate for all your order no max. or min. quantity Hardiness: Very Easy Light Needs: Low Plant Structure: Stem Family: Acanthaceae Genus: Hygrophila Region: South America Location: Unknown Size: Stem width 6 inches Growth Rate: Very Fast Can Be Grown Emersed: Yes Hygrophila sp. 'Tiger', so named because of the prominent markings on its leaves, is one of a flood of new species coming into the hobby. It is purported to be from South America, although like many of the new species, the exact details of its original habitat are unclear. It is not presently sold by any commercial entities but is rapidly making its way through the hobby through trading. Hygrophila sp. 'Tiger' is in many ways very similar to H. polysperma. It is about the same size, grows very rapidly (if not more so) and has a similar growth pattern. Also like H. polysperma, it is undemanding and able to tolerate a very wide range of conditions. It is different in that strong lighting and generous micro nutrient dosing will turn a rather uninteresting green plant into one that is vibrant, colorful, and eye-catching. Emersed cultivation is, under all but the most extreme conditions, effortless. Under the best of conditions, growth is more compact and with a minimum of trimming, an effective hedge may be maintained. This species can be a useful background plant as well.
