Please read entire auction and updated Just Me before bidding. Shipping to contiguous 48 states only, (CONUS, not AK, HI, or PR). 12+ Stems Tropical Hornwort, Ceratophyllum submersum This is not the commonly available hornwort, Ceratophyllum demersum. Tropical hornwort, also known as Soft Hornwort is... softer. The form is similar but Tropical hornwort can get bigger & fluffier and does not feel like you filled your tank with branches from a spruce tree. If enough is still available, the winner may double the number of stems for just $10, ask as soon as you win if interested. Calling it 12+ but have been shipping at least 18 stems per portion. This plant should be left floating, it never grows roots and doesn't like being bunched and weighted. If left alone this plant will align itself vertically which looks really cool. On the surface it looks feathery. This plant can grow FAST, just look what a big handful of 3" stems I added to a 10G did in 12 days with only one light bulb. The whole top half of the tank becomes safe for those valuable fry! Tropical Hornwort will grow in quite low light, it just won't be as full or grow as fast. For best results give it over 1WPG. This plant does not need fertilizer to grow but with light ferts I get a few inches of new growth each week. INCHES.EACH.WEEK. So I am ALSO going to include some of the fertilizer mix I use, enough to treat 500Gs (or 10Gs fifty times). You will have tons of this plant very quickly. It is NOT Miracle-Gro (do you know what's in that? ahk!) or any other repackaged product meant for terrestrial plants. It's a lot more comprehensive than Leaf Zone and infinitely cheaper than the SeaChem line. Safe for fish and inverts. And most of all, nitrate-free. I started growing this again a couple of years ago when a friend wanted large amounts of fast growing plants for fry cover. It's a little more work than guppy grass but it really does look great. Now I am using it again for tanks with livebearers which are more predatory towards their fry. It's harder for the adults to dart through, in fact they tend to not want to swim in it at all. Tangling can be prevented by just snipping long pieces into smaller lengths every few weeks. This beautiful plant is rare in the hobby because is fussy about how it is shipped. I can't just put it in a sandwich bag, it needs to be in water. If you don't believe me look at THIS. The fairest way for me to do this is to include the costs for the packaging materials in the auction price and you just pay the exact postage for 2 pounds as the shipping cost. Questions? You can check that cost yourself at usps.com, it will be much faster than asking me for a quote, use the online price, not the post office price. I ship to PO Boxes if it's Confirmed Address. This will be shipped in a Regional A box, insulated if needed, with a generous amount of water but without a heatpack. The insulation and large volume of water can greatly slow temperature changes and should be sufficient protection against brief exposure to temperatures in the 20s. It is not enough for really cold destinations so no shipping to locations with lows of 25F and below. Check your forecast! Shipping will be delayed when local (the airport) low temps will be 25F or below. Shipping will be delayed if extreme weather may endanger the plants ...it's a hobby not an organ transplant!
