Tropical Hornwort, Ceratophyllum submersum This auction is for 30 stems of Tropical Hornwort. Use BIN before any bids are placed and you will get a total of 40 stems! This is not the commonly available hornwort, Ceratophyllum demersum. Tropical hornwort, also known as Soft Hornwort is... softer. The form is similar but Tropical hornwort is bigger, fluffier and does not feel like you filled your tank with branches from a spruce tree.
This plant should be left floating, do not try to root it or put weights on it and try to treat it as a bunched plant. I will send along some tips to get the best results for using it as a fry saver plant. Shown below is a shot of it in a tank followed by a 25 sq in container with 10 stems. You will be receiving three times that amount, four times w/ BIN. Stems average 4" to 6" because that is the size I use in my tanks.

I started growing this again when a friend wanted large amounts of fast growing plants for fry cover. It's a little more work than guppy grass but it really does look great. Now I am using it again for tanks with livebearers which are more predatory towards their fry. It's harder for the adults to dart through, in fact they tend to not want to swim in it at all. Tangling can be prevented by just snipping long pieces into smaller lengths every few weeks.
This plant does not need fertilizer to grow but with light ferts I get a few inches of new growth each week. INCHES.EACH.WEEK. So I am ALSO going to include some of the fertilizer mix I use, enough to treat 500Gs (or 10Gs fifty times). You will have tons of this plant very quickly.
It is NOT Miracle-Gro (Do you know what's in that? Urea, Copper Sulphate, Ammonium Phosphate...ahk!) or any other repackaged product meant for terrestrial plants. It's a lot more comprehensive than Leaf Zone and infinitely cheaper than the SeaChem line. Completely safe for fish and inverts. And most of all, nitrate-free since the whole idea is to keep nitrates in the tank as low as possible.
Tropical Hornwort is fussy about how it is shipped. The fairest way to do this is for me to include the material costs for the packaging materials in the auction price and you just pay the exact postage as the shipping cost. It will be $5.04 to those near and up to $9.62 for those in the west.
Term details are on my Just Me page. Please read it before bidding. A copy of these terms is also included in this auction as commented out text and can be viewed by looking at the page source.
Payment is by PayPal only, no e-checks. When paying with PayPal, you must include the address you wish the package sent to.
Priority Mail shipping in a well insulated box is postage for 2lbs to your zip. Hold for Pickup is available and recommended if your weather is hot.
LAG for 3 days if >25 and <85F.
Some of my other auctions may be combined with this for savings on shipping costs.
