Guppy Grass, Najas guadalupensis

You are bidding on one big handful of guppy grass.

This has become my #1 fry cover plant, replacing my longstanding favorite, Tropical Hornwort (Ceratophyllum submersum). Najas don't tangle as badly or shed as much and growth can be at least as fast. These floaters that don't sit on top of the surface do not block gas exchange between the air and water, don't get sucked into filters and don't get in the way when you are trying to feed the fish. Guppy grass will also root easily if you want.

How much do you get? A BIG handful. It's how much I put in a ten gallon to start. Below is a 10G that I had just plopped one handful into followed by the same tank at one week later and then two weeks later. No special lights, no CO2, that tank doesn't even have a heater. Just my custom blend fertilizer.

I am also going to include a little of the fertilizer mix I use so these plants will GROW and improve your water quality. Everyone has seen certain plants being touted as 'nitrate sponges' but the mere presence of the plants does nothing except maybe provide a surface for beneficial bacteria to grow on. They have to GROW to use up those nitrates. And if certain other nutrients missing, the plants may simply sit there with very little growth.

It is NOT Miracle-Gro or any other repackaged product meant for terrestrial plants. It's a lot more comprehensive than Leaf Zone and infinitely cheaper than the SeaChem line. Completely safe for fish and inverts. And most of all, nitrate-free since the whole idea is to keep nitrates in the tank as low as possible. Even with 8 - 10 hours daily of basic lighting (low light) you should have significant growth and cleaner water. Good for other plants too but only moderate levels of iron. You can see in my tank pictured above that in two weeks it more than doubled in a very low tech tank. Your results will depend on your setup/lighting.

Additional portions of Guppy Grass are available to winning bidder at auction closing price.
