Description

Vallisneria americana (gigantea) As indicated by its former name, this is the biggest of all varieties we have. It should be placed in the background or the end wall in order to prevent it from dominating the entire layout. Apart from its size, it also differs from other Vallisneria by its darker green colors. Opinions differ when it comes to the growth requirements of this plant but good light is usually recommended in order to avoid to much self-shading by the large leaves. In addition, a nutrient rich substrate stimulates good growth and production of runners. The plants shipped are from 6 to 12 inches tall with good roots as seen in the photo. You will receive 25 plants. "S. subulata" is a fairly easy plant to grow, requiring only moderate light. This plant species can tolerate quite hard, alkaline water conditions and does well in non-CO2 aquaria, This plant is also especially finicky about iron levels and will show deficiencies with yellowing leaves. Intense lighting will bring out reddish leaf apexes. Planted densely, the 0.5cm wide leaves have the ability to grow to 60cm. Less dense plantings keeps the leaves short, in the 5-10cm range. "S. subulata" is a fast grower, and as it propagates by runners, it can quickly form a dense carpet. Sometimes, this plant will send long flower stems to the surface which bear small white flowers. S. sublata is ideal for foreground or midground locations or in dense planting. You will receive 75 plants Plants are shipped free and guaranteed live delivery. A total of 100 plants
