Description

Plant Package: Uncommon Low Light Plants

I've sold a lot of medium and high light plants lately, so here's a package for all you low-light, low-tech plant lovers. These ones shouldn't put up too much of a fuss, but will still need at least 1-1.5wpg to grow. Nonetheless, higher light and CO2 will make them grow faster and bushier, as is the case with all plants. Some of these species are common in the trade, others are only obtainable from hobbyists. This is a good package for low-light collectors to expand their number of species.

I'm offering the following package to start with, starting at one dollar with no reserve, but if this auction goes over $20 (which it's easily worth), I'll start throwing in EXTRAS (new and duplicate species) to make it worth your money and then some. I have tons of plants to offer, so don't fear bidding it up high to get more plants than anyone reasonably knows what to do with. For the sake of full disclosure, it's possible you'll get some hitchhiker snails and/or duckweed on the submersed-grown plants.

Shipping is a flat $10, via USPS Priority flat-rate mailing box to anywhere in the U.S. (including Puerto Rico). But, if this auction goes over $30, I'll even ship for FREE. Live arrival guaranteed if you don't let the box cook out in the hot sun all day. In case of significant DOAs (I do put in extras just in case a few stems melt), email me photos the same day the plants arrive and I'll do a resend on my dime. If you're worried about my limited feedback, check out my profiles on PlantedTank.Net and AquaticPlantCentral.com - I've had plenty of happy buyers for my plants.

So, to start, here's the plants I guarantee you'll be getting (with some photos below):

6 stems Ludwigia repens x arcuata - Narrow-Leaf Ludwigia (grown submersed)
This is a wonderful beginner Ludwigia and a favorite of many hobbyists. Much less finicky than others of its genus (which are mostly medium to high light plants and present some difficulty to cultivate), this species is hard to kill. In low light it has nice, dark green leaves, but in higher light/CO2 it gets bright red and gold foliage. Supplementing its iron through liquid ferts will help encourage red growth in less-optimal conditions.

6 Stems Hygrophila sp. 'Bold' (grown submersed)
One of my favorite hygros (and I am very fond of hygros). This species is highly variable in shape and color, and can adapt to almost any growing conditions. Hard or soft water, low or high light, warm or cool temps, all kinds of substrate, and almost any fert levels are acceptable for its growth. It does like to have a little extra iron in its diet.

6 stems Ludwigia arcuata (grown submersed)
A lovely Ludwigia featuring elongate leaves, which even in low light will show hints of burgundy foliage. One of the easiest-to-grow of the Ludwigias

4 stems Hydrocotyle leucocephala - Brazilian Pennywort (grown submersed)
Another species I have a soft spot for. This pennywort grows in all but the most absymal conditions, and is ideal for warmwater (discus, angels, etc) setups because it likes the heat.

1 big bushy stem of Hygrophila corymbosa var. 'Angustifolia' - Willow-Leaf Hygro (grown submersed)
This plant gets huge if you let it. It doesn't need a lot of light but it does need space to grow.

1 nice stem of Hygrophila difformis - Water Wisteria (grown submersed)
Another hygro species that gets big if you let it. This one has delicately lobed leaves that add texture to the aquascape.

15+ stems (double bunch) Ludwigia palustris (emersed growth)
This one's not a strictly low-light plant, per se, but it's of my favorites because it's extremely adaptable. It won't look its best in low light, but won't die, either.

1 chain (6+ nodes) Marsilea hirsuta - Water Clover (submersed growth)
This plant is one of the few carpeting types that doesn't die in low light. It does grow slowly, and is a pain in the rear to get it started, but leave it to its own devices for awhile and it'll start to make a foreground carpet.

1 rhizome Microsorum pteropus 'Windelov' - Windelov Java Fern (grown submersed)
An unusual cultivar of a classic low-light plant. The one you're getting has been pre-attached to a rock, so just drop it in the tank wherever you want it and it's good to go.

And now, the photos of the tanks that these plants may come from:

Some of my tanks:
20gal guppies
(The guppy tank above currently has plants growing all the way to the top - this is what it looked like a few weeks ago!)

55gal angels

20 gal endlers

I'll ship to anywhere in the U.S. and Puerto Rico

Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. If you're looking for a particular plant species, I might be able to get it for you. I also do custom plant scaping packages tailored to your setup's parameters - arranged by email.

Happy bidding!
