READ IT! FREE SHIPPING. Up for auction are a young adult trio, one male, two females, of Pygmy Sunfish. These will be small adults, able to breed. The picture shows a male in normal non breeding colors. Photo was taken by Daniel Kennedy. Pygmy Sunfish do best in small tanks of their own, with mild current, lots of plants and rocks and wood never hurt. They need live food. Do not bid on these if you are not well versed on providing small live foods. Do not bid on these and put them into a bare tank. Pygmy Sunfish are very easy to breed, all you have to do is provide them with an environment they like, live foods, and they will do the rest. The male will stake out a small territory in the plants or by a rock or piece of wood and entice a female with his blue colors and a little dance. She will lay small eggs in a clump and he will fertilize them and protect them until they hatch. As long as you have lots of plants the babies will disperse and many will survive. Also included with this auction is a reverse trio, 2 males and 1 female, of Leptolucania omnata, the Pygmy Killifish. These are small, dainty, peaceful killifish that are quite popular among native fish enthusiasts. These are sexually mature. They are eating small live foods and you will need to be able to provide them with the same. These fish will do fine in the same tank as the Pygmy Sunfish. These fish are healthy, eating, and thriving. It will be up to YOU to provide them with conditions to guarantee that they continue to do so.
