Up for auction are 6 small unsexed Pygmy Sunfish. These will be small, I will try to include males and females but they will need to grow out a bit before they breed. They are eating live newly hatched brine shrimp and small live blackworms. As they grow out the males will show blue spots and fins as seen in the above picture. The males turn a velvety black when breeding as shown in the lower photo. When you receive them they will be a brownish color. The males will settle in and defend a small territory and try to entice females. You will need to do your research, these are fish for the experienced aquarist. I have acclimated these to medium hard water. They have been in captivity for awhile. I have lots of driftwood and java moss on the bottom with some other odd rocks and plants mixed in. They are collected in Central Florida in very harsh environments, the temperature of the water rises over 90 degrees in the afternoons and dips in the low 70's at night. These fish have to be rugged to survive. The water depth they are collected in is a mere inch or two, the bottom is deep sticky mud. The visibility in the water they are found in is barely a few inches. There are tons of predators in the way of larger fish, snakes, dragonfly larvae, water beetles, you name it. They benefit wonderfully from being put in a stable aquarium and fed rich foods. Be prepared to provide them with this. I am available to answer any questions, please do not bid if you are unsure about anything.
