Description

Add some fun little burrowers with Malaysian Trumpet Snails! This listing includes a mix of Juvenile and Adult snails for cute life and cleanup in your new tank. You will receive at least ten JUVENILES in various shades of beige, brown, cream, and gold. Sub adults are pictured, at about 1/2 an inch long. They can get up to an inch long at full growth. MTS are chill dudes who do not eat plants nor will they bother shrimp or other tank-mates. They mostly chug around eating detritus and algae, and will scrub your plants of dead matter and other algae growing on the surface, plus great for glass cleanup as well. These are rather unique in that they love to burrow beneath the substrate. It's quite fun to watch a long furrow in the sand suddenly end. There's a snail down there! Malaysian Trumpets, like most snails, do not need any sort of dedicated food source. They are most pleased doing what they do naturally, hanging out on plants, surfaces, and substrate cleaning up after other tank mates. If you overfeed, the snails will believe more of a cleanup crew are needed, and will attempt to breed to solve that issue. MTS are not prolific breeders like other snails, but will produce one live baby every few months. These work fabulously in community tanks without aggressive tank-mates. Loaches, Chiclids, Puffers and the like will quickly attack and decimate your new snails. These are kept in aged, treated tap water; any old tap water will do. Mine are about 70f in the winter (76f in the summer), 7.4 pH, and ~200ppm gh. I have also tested these in some of my unheated, unfiltered Walstad tanks, and they do beautifully. I have not had success keeping these in Reverse- Osmosis water (even remineralized), so I wouldn't recommend it. Waters too soft? I throw in a chunk of cuttlebone (the kind for parakeets), and that keeps their shells strong. When you receive these, you'll notice they will be curled up tightly pretty far up inside their shells. This is normal! They have retreated to conserve their metabolism and moisture during shipping. Just pop them right into your tank, and they will emerge within a day or so at most. Fortunately, I always include an extra or two JUUUST in case of an DOA's. Check out my other listings for more cool aquarium stuff! These are homebred here in the US (Kansas) and are not farmed nor imported. I take a lot of pride in this hobby. I'm very careful, and I use methods that have consistently gotten the best results over years. Lot of love going into this hobby. Please don't leave them to roast or freeze in a mailbox🙏 Paypal or Venmo only, shipping Mondays/ Fridays. Please be sure your address is correct! Thank you for looking, aqua friends!
