Assassin snails are called such because their favorite food is - other species of snails! They are great for getting rid of pond snails. They will climb on to a pond snail and overtake time. Then they'll flip him over and suck the pond snail out of its own shell and eat it! I have over 40 tanks and more than half of them have assassin snails in them - but I've only witnessed an assassin snail eating another snail once. However, I know they are hard at work because I see empty shells ALL OVER my tanks, and the pond snails eventually stop showing up!
Assassin snails grow to be only about a half inch long. Your dozen may include adults, babies, or some in between, but there will be at least twelve of them. Assassin snails can reproduce quickly, but they lay eggs individually instead of gooey clumps of eggs like pond snails. This means they won't clog your filter up! Mystery snail BABIES will be eaten, but larger ones require the assassin snails to gang up on them, so they are usually okay.
This auction is for ONE FULL DOZEN ASSASSIN snails. The photo below is one of the snails produced BY ME, and they all come from the same colony - but have been spread to other tanks as they populated the first one. I do add calcium pills to the tanks now and then, so they will be healthy with strong shells!
SHIPPING will be USPS Priority Mail and will include ice/heat packs at no additional charge. Shipping is a flat $7 per dozen. I WILL actually ship to Alaska and Hawaii, but NO U.S. territories (i.e. Caribbean).
