10 + 2 Purple Mystery Snails

Shown are some of the snails you will receive, they are mostly large pea sized.

Purples have the same dark body as Blues but they have burgundy stripes on the shell, the reddish stripes over the cool colored body is what makes them purple. The are plenty of Photoshopped pictures on the interwebs showing very artificial colors which can lead to very unrealistic expectations. I have tried to portray these accurately in the unaltered photo, if anything they will likely look brighter in person.

These do need veggies in their diet. Collard or dandelion greens are great choices. Green beans and peas are good too. Plain lettuce doesn't really have any nutritional value (except Romaine). Spinach contains oxalic acid which prevents the calcium from being bio-available so I don't recommend it as a staple food. They will eat some soft algaes but I would not call them a serious algae eater, regardless of what others may say about how they will end your algae woes.

They like to clean up fish food which has fallen to the bottom. This is important if you ever overfeed. You do not want old food rotting in the tank with the chance that a fish might try to eat it. It's a misconception that snails eat fish poo, sorry, it doesn't work like that. They DO NOT eliminate the need to clean the tank or do waterchanges. Putting too many in a tank will increase the maintenance needed, more isn't better.

Suitable tankmates include most gentle community fish. Most loaches and cichlids are poor choices. Even if the snail is not killed outright, constantly having their antennas or bodies nipped at will make their lives miserable. In a suitable environment, mystery snails are active. A shrimp tank is heaven for them and the shrimp ride around on them.

The winner will receive a comprehensive care sheet which can be downloaded and printed if desired. Briefly, no acidic water, no soft water, no big fish. Temps up to 80F. These make good companions for small & nano fish and especially easy shrimp.

Term details are on my Just Me page which was updated recently. Read it before bidding.

Payment is through PayPal only (you do not need an account, just a credit card), no e-checks. When paying with PayPal, you must use a shipping address. If you want shipping to an Unconfirmed address, email before bidding/buying to discuss this.

Shipping with Priority Mail is $14. The snails will be in poly bags with oxygen or in a Kordon Breather bag with a generous amount of water & in a well insulated box with heatpack. No shipping to locations with highs of 80F and above or lows of 25F and below. Check your forecast! Shipping will be delayed when local (the airport) low temps will be 25F or below.

If it's warm enough both here and there for me to ship without a heatpack I can use a Regional A box and you will be refunded a portion of the shipping, $3.35 to $8.00 depending on zipcode.

Shipping will be delayed if extreme weather may endanger the snails, ...it's a hobby not an organ transplant!

LAG for 10 snails for 3 days if >25F and <75F.

Some of my other auctions may be combined with this for savings on shipping costs.

Thanks for looking and GOOD LUCK!
