Description

I've been breeding top quality Ramshorns for over 8 years. With all of my snails, i make sure that they've been isolated for over 30 days to ensure that they don't carry any parasites or flukes. Various flukes carried by Ramshorn snails can infect humans and kill fish. These flukes require intermediate hosts so isolating them kills off disease. Properly raised Ramshorns are 100% safe for all freshwater aquariums, and even slightly saline environments. All of my snails are fed high-calcium, varied, and nutritious diets and have strong shells. I have 2 Rhode Island Red chickens in my backyard that lay organic home raised eggs everyday. I bake the shells and crush them, then use them as substrate in my Ramshorn tanks to ensure that the snails get a peak amount of calcium in their diets. This is good to ensure healthy strong snails, but it also good news for customers who purchase Ramshorns for feeding to puffer fish in order to trim their beaks- these snails' strong shells work great for that purpose! Absolutely no snails with cracked shells are sold of course. They are one of the few species of snails that aren't affected by light, and don't seek cover under rocks or plants. They enjoy being out in the open, displaying their unique colors. Through selective breeding, I've produced many different color morphs, (Leopard-spotted, dappled, red, orange, pink, amber, red-dappled, black...etc.) With proper nutrition, Ramshorn snails can grow to the size of a quarter. They are hermaphrodites and breed very fast. Their offspring are very tiny, and make great food for many species of fish. Tired of buying brine shrimp for your fry? Scoop some baby Ramshorns out of the tank and you've got a feast for a king! And if you have no need for baby snails, they're easy to rid of if populations grow too large. They don't eat live aquarium plants or fresh fish food, but they are helpful as they eat rotten or dying plants and soggy, uneaten fish food. Perhaps you're gone on vacation, and one of your fish dies. Normally, it would lay there and rot, possibly threatening the lives of the other organisms in the tank. Ramshorns have a preference for anything dead and dying, and will gobble it up before it does any harm. Also, they gather at the water level when water quality is bad or when not enough oxygen is present- this is a great way to tell when a tank needs to be cleaned. They can clean algae infested tanks in days, and are one of the only organic and safe remedies for hydra infestations. Shipping is $6.00.
