Description

6 juvenile, unsexed melanotaenia lacustris, also known as the Lake Kutubu Rainbowfish. These fish were raised here in my fishroom. The stock fish I received from Lotsoffish. The parent fish are still quite young but produce lots of viable eggs. I keep mine in a 55 gallon with some yarn mops. I hand pick eggs and water incubate them. Very similar to killifish. Pictured is one of the adult males "flashing". Typically, both males and females are a light turquoise. When the males engage or they are trying to attract a female into the spawning mops instantly they will "flash" on and off repeatedly. Their body will become a deep blue(almost black) and the dorsal area above their nose will glow yellow. Typically I see this behavior in the morning but it goes on more infrequently throughout the day as well. It's really very stunning and photos don't do it justice. The fish you are bidding on are 1.5" or so. They are developing the turquoise coloration. They are feeding aggressively on Tetramin flake and frozen brine shrimp. They are steady growers but not fast growers. Give them some room and patience and they will be stunning. Shipping is $22, non-refundable, on top of the winning bid.
