Description

You are bidding on three pairs of this fish about .75 inches in length. They start breeding at a young age so I expect that you will see eggs in another month. They look outstanding in a planted tank and like most rainbowfish easy to care for, just change the water and you�ll have happy fish. This fish only gets about 2.5 inches (6 cm) in length. The males seem to be in constant motion and it�s tough to really capture the wonderful colors of this fish. I�ve been lucky enough to collect some other fantastic rainbowfish but this one really is special. I know without a doubt that this fish will be up there with boesemani, praecox and rubripinnis (Wapoga red Laser) as one of the most desirable rainbowfish in the hobby. This is the first time offering of this fish in the US.

Amazing backstory! Plane ride from Sorong to the city of Kaimana. Then a long ride in a 16 foot wooden boat on a very bumpy sea to Lengguru. I�m not the type to worry about a life vest but each of us had ours on plus a spare close by. When the waves are so big that you fear being bounced out of the boat you may have gone too far! But we made it. After meeting with the chief to get permission to collect we waited most of the day until the only vehicle in town, a huge dump truck came back to take us fishing. After almost an hour ride on a gravel road we got to the magical Tawa. It was a fairly shallow and clear water stream. Three species of Melanotaenia were recorded here by us but this was the most special one of all!

When the auction ends on Saturday evening I want to have an email by Sunday afternoon so I can get your fish ready. I need a PayPay sent so I can ship out the next day. Due to the slower response at the PO I only ship Express for these fish on Monday or Tuesday. Express mail is $57.
