Description

This auction is for 15 young, unsexed, spotted green swordtails and some epiplatys dageti Monroviae eggs. Regarding the swords. This is a strain that's been around Western NY for 5 or 6 years. It was originally introduced to our area by Pete Mang. This is a large strain. The females get about 4" and chunky. The drops of an adult female are typically 80-100 fry. The trick is saving the fry from the female. I have some custom made breeder traps that are too small for this strain. The female gets too stressed in the trap. What I do is place the gravid female in a 5 gallon loaded with floating and sinking yarn mops. I like this strain as it is, but a couple livebearer guys in my area were using it to put spots on other strains of sword they were working with. I personally saw some nice spotted red swords that were developed using this strain. The hydrid vigor of the cross produced some monster fish. I have about 30 fry left at this time, and I'm not certain I will be maintaining the strain anymore. Tank space being the issue. I've not had luck keeping an adult breeding group with anything else in my fish room. These swords are rather aggressive; one male to 3 females works well but even the females are scrappy among themselves in a 55 gallon. The fish you will be receiving are 1/4"-1/2". I'll also include 30-40 dageti eggs in peat. These are great beginner, mop spawning killifish. They are nice looking, long lived and hardy. They will eat live foods, frozen foods and high quality flake. The young are easy to raise as well. I'll include a microworm starter culture for the fry as well. Shipping is $15 non-refundable on top of the winning auction bid. It includes an insulated box and necessary heatpacks to get your fish to you in excellent condition. Payment(via Paypal only) is expected by Saturday 5/26 at 12pm EST. I will ship these fish on Tuesday 5/29. At the close of auction I will send you an email to make payment and shipping arrangements. If payment is not received as indicated, I will relist the auction. Thanks for looking.
