Description

This week's auction is for a group of 6, young, unsexed aplocheilus blockii. I was fortunate to acquire a group of young fish several months ago. After some trial and error I've had good success with raising fry. Mine seems to prefer warmer water(78 degrees). In the low 70's egg production all but stops. I kept my breeding group together. I believe I have 2 males and 3 females. The males spar but cause no harm. They are kept in a 5 gallon with several yarn mops. Just ambient room lighting. Bright lights seem to spook them. I hand pick eggs and incubate them in a margarine container floated in the parent tank. The eggs seem pretty fungus resistant and hatch in about 10 days. As my breeding group matured egg viability is near 100% of the eggs I pick. The young are very very small. I think microworm and vinegar eels are too large for the first couple weeks. The best luck I've had is placing the newly hatched fry in a 10 gallon tank loaded with hornwort, naja grass and subwassertang. After several weeks young will start to appear for feedings of newly hatched brine shrimp. As they grow they greedily eat Tetramin flake, Ken's earthworm flake, chopped frozen brine shrimp and chopped frozen blood worms. As adults their beauty is understated. They are very similar to e. dageti in habits and size but have a bright iridescent green color. I'll also include a microworm culture to help rear the fry(after 1 or 2 weeks of fry growth) as well as 25-30 fundulopanchax gardneri Misaje eggs in peat. Shipping is $15(nonrefundable) on top of the winning auction bid. It includes an insulated box and appropriate heat packs if needed to get your fish to you in excellent condition. Payment, via Paypal only, is due by Sunday 5/20/18 at 12 noon EST. I have to prepare the fish for shipping on Monday and if payment is not received by the deadline the fish will be relisted. At the close of the auction, I will send the winning bidder an email to make arrangements for payment and shipping. Thanks for looking.
