Description

This week I'm offering 2 young pairs of mop spawning killifish. The first pair is epiplatys dageti Monroviae. The second is chromaphyosemion volcanum Ekondo Titi(no picture I've taken of these fish does them any justice; they wash-out in a photo container and the lighting in the tank is too dark). But the adult fish are stunning. I maintain both in a similar manner. Room temperature water(68-70 degrees). Pairs are kept in bare bottom 5 gallon aquariums with several yarn spawning mops(both floating and sinking).Keep them covered as both are expert jumpers. They feed on high quality flake like Tetramin, Ken's earthworm flake, fozen brine shrimp and live blackworms. Both fish spawn daily, leaving a dozen to several dozen adhesive eggs throughout the yarn spawning mops. When I want to harvest eggs I hand pick them and place them in a margarine container with about an inch of water from the parent tank. I place the container in a dark location like a closet or desk drawer. The eggs hatch in about 10 days. Kept in the dark, the eggs are very resistant to fungus. Newly hatched, free swimming fry will feed on microworms initially and then live/frozen baby brine shrimp and 5-50 micron golden pearls. I would say both fish grow at about the same rate. I also like to add a piece of hornwort to the fry container once the eggs hatch. I believe that the fry graze on infusoria that is on the plant surface. So in addition to the 2 pairs of killifish, I will also include a cutting of hornwort and a microworm starter culture with simple care instructions. These are both young pairs of fish. I believe the dageti are already laying viable eggs. The volcanums are probably a couple weeks away from laying eggs. You will notice that with the volcanums the egg fertility rate will increase as the breeding pair mature. Kept at room temperature, both of these fish should live 2-3 years. Shipping is $15 on top of the winning auction bid. It is non-refundable. It includes an insulated box with appropriate heat packs to get the fish to you in excellent condition. I ship on Monday and Tuesday only. Payment is via Paypal only. When the auction closes I am already preparing your fish for shipping(fasting them)in anticipation of Monday shipping. I've recently run into a couple instances where the winning bidder is not responding to me in a timely manner or paying for the auction in a timely manner. If you're not prepared to pay for the auction when it closes or are unable to respond to my email with a reasonable explanation, please don't bid on it. I'm very reasonable but appreciate communication during the process so that things run smoothly.
