Description

Julidochromis transcriptus Gombi - 6 unsexed, juveniles. Approximately 1" in length. These are a very nice representative of the strain. The parents are pictured but are not part of this auction. I received the parents from a local importer friend of mine. I've kept many of the juli's at one time or another. I like them all but these are my favorite. This strain is particularly dark and stout with vivid iridescent blue highlites. Have you ever moved a fish out of your fish room to make room for something new, but later regretted it because you were never able to find the original fish of like kind and quality again? That's why I keep these. The parents produce small broods of 10 or so fry at regular intervals. I keep them in a tank of their own and neither the parents or larger juvenile fish bother the fry. I've also kept the pair in a mixed Tanganyikan tank. Some fry survive but not nearly as many as when kept in a species tank. I feed Tetramin flake, Ken's earthworm flake, frozen brine and live blackworms. But I can tell you that they also graze pretty heavily on hair algae. I complete a large water change weekly on them. My experience with any of the juli's is that they thrive on regular water changes but really don't do well in an unestablished tank. As part of this auction, I'm also going to include some plants that grow really well in my hard Lake Erie water with moderate light and no fertilizers, to include java fern, heudelotii bolbitis and soft hornwort. Shipping is $15 and is nonrefundable. I ship on Mondays and Tuesdays only. I accept payment via Paypal only and prompt payment is appreciated. If you win this auction and are interested in messing with some killifish, I will also send you some viable eggs from something I'm working with in my fish room(along with the hatching instructions). Thanks for looking.
