Hello folks!
Happy October!
I am going on one last camping trip this weekend before I drain the cabin's water lines and button up the camp for the Winter, I suggest you try to do the same before all the leaves are down and old man Winter takes hold until Spring arrives. I added a photo of one of the Lakes I screw around at above. Ain't the North East Forest AWESOME looking in the Fall?
This offering is from Conrad Jr's. fish room and he just dropped all this stuff off to me last night. Here's what he says about the auction-
Here's what I am bringing over this evening. Ill deliver it tonight at 6pm pursuant to our conversation yesterday.
1 young pair of aphyosemion marginatum. 1 young pair of fundulopanchax gardneri Misaje.
6 juvenile epiplatys dageti Monroviae. These Epiplatys are just sexing-out. I will do my best to ensure that you get mixed sexes with 3 Pr. being a reasonable degree of certainty.
All of these fish are mop spawners. They are very close to starting to lay eggs. I would say a 3-5 weeks away.
I breed them all very similarly. I keep my breeding pairs in unheated aquariums(about 70-72 degrees). I keep both floating and submerged synthetic yarn mops with them. I feed the parents live blackworms, frozen brine shrimp, live baby brine shrimp, golden pearls, Tetramin flake and Kens earthworm flake. They eat it all with gusto.
I hand harvest eggs and place them into margarine containers with an inch or so of water from the parent tank. I keep them in a dark location.
The difference with these fish is that you will likely find the dageti eggs in the tops of the floating mops, the marginatum eggs in the sinking mops and the gardneri in both.
The dageti and marginatum eggs will hatch pretty quickly in less than 2 weeks. Very fast at warmer temps. The gardneri eggs take about 3 weeks to hatch. I keep an eye on the eggs and siphon out free swimming fry as I see them. You can start-off fry in plastic shoebox type containers or place them directly into an established tank(by themselves). Either way they will do well.
They are all very hardy varieties.
As a caveat, I would not maintain them at tropical temperatures because 76 and up tends to shorten their life span and you may notice that at warmer temps they have trouble keeping any weight on them.
I also included a nice bunch of soft hornwort. and one piece of subwassertang
These plants do well in my moderately lit hard water tanks. And they work well if you want to breed these killifish naturally. That is, place a pair into a tank with hornwort and subwassertang. Leave breeders in the tank for 4 or 5 days and then remove them. Allow the eggs to hatch out of the plants.
Thank YOU Conrad!
I noticed Conrad did not include any mops with this offering, I'll tell you what folks, I will add a couple to your box, one floating and 1 sinking.
Even if you are just going to add all these fish to a nice planted tank someday in the future you will find these mops handy to have! Trust me on this, I know how things progress in this hobby!
Shipping is FREE on this and ALL my auctions and I Guarantee live arrival of ALL healthy fish that look like they do in my auction photos!
