Hello folks! Happy October! This offering is for some of Diane's Mbuna's. These fish are from Lake Malawi and are best kept in their own tank although you can usually also keep Synodontis Catfish and most loach species with them. Most beginners set up African Cichlid community tanks containing mostly Malawi cichlids and that almost always turns out badly for them cuz they go to their local pet shops and pick out all the biggest nicest looking Africans they see and ultimately end up with a tank FULL of Males with no Females and shortly after they add their last fish all their Male Mbuna's beat the living hell out of each other until they are left with one big Male and wondering what the heck happened and why these fish are so nasty. In MY OPINION the best way to keep Mbuna's is to simply set up a species tank with BOTH SEXES and allow the fish to breed with each other. The fish is this offering are mouth brooders and actually very easy to breed. Like I said above you can always add some catfish or loaches but you really won't even need scavengers cuz Mbuna's eat algae and as long as you don't over feed they will eat every last morsel of food you add to their tank on their own. Now that I have given you my crash course on how to keep Malawi fish I guess I outta tell you what you are bidding on. This offering is for a group of 6 OB Red Zebra's including 2 Male OB marmalade cats. A marmalade cat is an OB (Orange Blotched) Male that ends up developing a very nice Blue Sheen to them. Those marmalade cats are what this offering is really all about cuz they are NOT easy to find, I think they are super cool, and when I saw Dianne had some she was raising I got pretty excited! When these fish breed for you, you will get mostly regular OB Male Red Zebras but you will get a small amount of these marmalade cats and once you see what these Males look like in a tank you WILL like them. They were hard to photograph and as they get a little older that blue you can see on them will become a sheen over their entire bodies and that's when they look their best! THIS is a photo of a fully colored up Male! Win this offering and you will receive 3 Pairs of these fish including those 2 marmalade cats I have been talking about. I photographed 4 of the 6 fish and you can see them below. The 2 fish I didn't photograph are just as nice as the 4 you can see I just didn't want to add 6 fish to the photography container cuz it gets too crowded and then we can't see each fish in the photo's anyway! I will also send you some high quality foods for this group! Lastly these fish are just about at breeding age right now. If a few weeks after you receive them you notice 1 or more of them have stopped eating and seem to be hiding a lot they are NOT SICK. That's exactly how the Females will act when they have a mouth full of eggs so don't panic when that happens! All it means is you are treating the fish well and they are rewarding you for it by producing fry for you! Shipping is FREE with all my offerings and I Guarantee live arrival of NICE, HEALTHY fish that look just like they do in my offerings!
If you allow me to SHIP in a timely manner I will also give you 6 YOUNG Blood Dragon Peacocks from this Trio. Don't worry, they are just little guys and would do fine in just about ANY community tank full of non aggressive fish right now! I currently have them in a tank with young Fancy Guppies!
