Hello folks! Happy August Everyone! This is going to be my last week of posting auctions and then I will be taking a 2 week break from all this "fish stuff" so win something NOW so I can ship you a cool Box-O-Stuff before I go! You won't be sorry you did! This offering is for a group of 5 Halfbeaks I somehow managed to get my hands on! These fish are RARE in the hobby and cool in so many ways I could spend an hour yapping about them but I am going to spare you all that and just say these fish are 100% freshwater and actually live in the same area's Chocolate Gouramis and Pygmy Gouramis live. They were shipped to the USA as "New Halfbeaks" but after doing a lot of research on them I am 95% sure they are Hemirhamphodon tengah! That also means even though these fish are Halfbeaks they are the only Halfbeaks known to be egglayers. That's right folks and they breed JUST LIKE mop spawning Killie fish! Ain't that totally cool? I didn't know all this when I decided to take a chance on them and I bought a few! Now I wish I would have bought more cuz I have also found these fish to be quite HARDY here in my fish room. You are bidding on 5 of them. I don't know exactly how to sex them but I certainly will try to pick out both sexes for you. These fish absolutely will NOT take food off the bottom so I am also going to send you 4 wild caught Corydoras agassizii along with 6 Adult size Pumpkin Shrimp. That's what I currently have in with these fish and it's working out real good! Any food that drops too far down for the Halfbeaks gets eaten right up by the Corydoras and the Shrimp! Lastly I will send you some Soft Type Hornwort and if you need some I will send some Duckweed. Duckweed or any type of surface floating plants will really benefit these Halfbeaks and it helps to make these Halfbeaks feel secure. It also provides cover for any fry you may find in the tank. I couldn't find any info on what size the fry are born at but I bet they are large compared to most other egglaying species. I will also send you some quality floating fish foods to feed these Halfbeaks. Try these awesome fish out folks! I have been in the hobby for 40+ years and I have never seen them before, heck I didn't even know there was an egglaying Halfbeaks until I started trying to identify these fish. For anyone about to do their own research on them these were Imported from Indonesia and I would be willing to bet they were collected in or near Myanmar.
