Description

Swords, Cichlids and More!

X. alvarezi, H. multispinosa & Ancistrus

First you will be getting two young adult pairs of these beautiful X. Alvarezi swords. These are easy, hardy and peaceful. As you can see, I keep multiple males in the same tank.

Next you will receive some of these juvenile rainbow cihlids. These are one of the more peaceful cichlids which tend to stay in the lower half of the tank. Second picture is the parents tending eggs. I will send you 4 unsexed juveniles from which you can expect at least one pair but could certainly get two. The male to female ratio is even and they pair very easily.

I will also include a juvenile Ancistrus (bristlenose) to clean up the food the other fish miss and eat soft algae in those hard to reach places. While you don't have to keep these all together, you certainly could in a larger tank, I would recommend nothing smaller than a 55 gallon tank. They are all omnivores requiring a little plant material in the diet. They will all do well at temps in the mid 70s in somewhat hard and slightly alkaline water.

The swords will act as dithers for the rainbow cichlids resulting in them being more relaxed and showing brighter colors. In a heavily planted tank you could expect some of the swordtail fry to survive, it's less likely any of the rainbow fry would escape hungry mouths and a pair should be segregated if you want successful breeding.

These fish were born and bred in my fishroom in moderately hard water, raised with care by a very humble fishkeeper. They have been fed a variety of quality foods from Lohachata, Capt Bob (his starter worm cultures rock!) and Uncle Rick.

PayPal to timpeyton1962@yahoo.com, no e-checks please. I do accept US Postal money orders. You may also email me at that address with any questions you may have.

Shipping with USPS Priority Mail is 18 dollars, in a nice styro lined box with heatpacks as needed. I will postpone shipment if extreme weather could endanger the fish. Because a good deal isn't a good deal if your fish are dead, and it certainly isn't a deal for the fish themselves.
