Three Pairs of Endlers Sp#2 and Three Pairs Red Chest Endlers Strain #3, NO RESERVE, NICE!
Hello Aquabidders:
Aren't Red Chest Endlers nice? We first got into Endlers when Lotsoffish sent us some Endlers Sp#2. It turns out that Pete got those fish from Jaap jan de Greef who got them from Adrian Hernandez as N-class Red Chest Double Red Stripe Endlers. Recently, we picked up the Red Chest strain from Bettaubet that he has been calling Red Spotted Endlers. Turns out that these fish cam from Mobetta, who got them from Adrian Hernandez as N-class Red Chest Endlers Strain #3. There has been some discussion here about which strain of Red Chest Endlers is "nicer." I see that Pete picked up some of the strain #3 Endlers from Mobetta recently too. Personally, I really like them both equally well. The upside to the Sp#2/Double Red Stripe is that there appears to be more different colors on the same fish. Another upside to the Sp#2/Double Red Stripe is that the strain will also throw some Snake Chest fish, so you end up with more variety in your tank. The upside to the Red Chest Strain#3 is that there is more solid coloration of orange and black on the same fish, and there is less silver. Since I'm undecided as to which I like better, I thought that I would write up an auction for 3 pairs of each strain and let you decide. How about it?
P.S. Pete, which strain do you think is nicer?

Although sometimes referred to as "Endler's guppies," Endlers are not guppies (Poecilia reticulata). Rather, they are a closely related species that was recently (2006) described by a group of German scientists as Poecilia wingei. They were originally collected by evolutionary biologist, Dr. John Endler in 1975 in Lago de los Patos, Venezuela and brought back to the USA, where they became established in the aquarium trade. In the 80's, while traveling in England, Dr. Endler discovered, to his surprise, that his fish had become known in trade as "Endler's Liverbearers." He noted that the fish being sold as Endler's Livebearers had lost much of the color variation present in the original specimens, perhaps because of genetic drift, inbreeding, and/or hybridization with guppies. Native populations of these fish show amazing colors and have a tremendous amount of variation. In the last 15 years, new collections have been made from the populations in and around Lago de los Patos, which, sadly, is threatened by runoff from a nearby garbage dump. (Soon many Endlers wild type color variants may only exist in the aquarium hobby.) The recent collections have added many fabulous new genetic variants to the aquarium trade. Check out Adrian Hernandez's Endlersusa.com for a ton of information about these fish!
- 3 young adult pairs of Endlers Species #2
- 3 young adult pairs of Red Chest Strain #3
The first amazing little fish we are offering in this auction, has become known as Endlers Species #2. We got these from Pete Mang (Lotsoffish). He got them from the Dutch collector Jaap Jan de Greef, who got them from the breeder Adrian Hernandez. (Both Jaap and Pete swear they were never mixed with guppies.) Adrian got them from the collector Armando Pou, who collected them near Lago de los Patos, Venezuela. These are N-class, pure wild stock Endlers (no guppy genes).
As mentioned above, the second strain of fish in this auction is the Red Chest Endler Strain #3, a.k.a. the Red Spotted Endler. We got ours from Bettaubet, who got them from Mobetta, who got them from Adrian HD, who got them from the collector, Armando Pou. These are N-class, pure wild stock Endlers (no guppy genes). The Sp#2/Double Red Stripe and the Red Chest Strain #3 came from the same collections and the two strains were line-bred by Adrian for their different characteristics. Because of this, the two strains are closely related, and will sometimes throw variants that look like eachother.
These wild Endlers are really fabulous fish--they are hardy, gorgeous, and prolific! They are so active and fast moving that it is really hard to get a good picture of them, so our pictures don't do them justice. The video clips are a little better--sorry we only have video of the Sp#2s.
If you win this auction, for $15 extra, you have the option of adding a trio of one of the following types of Endlers: 1) Fire Red Flame Tail; 2) Top Yellow Sword; 3) Tiger Endlers. Follow the below link for pictures of these different Endlers variants:

Or, for $10 extra, you could add a fabulous trio of Wild Type Japan Blue Guppies. See the below link for a picture of these beautiful fish:
