Description

If you haven't heard anything about these little gems yet now is definitely the time. They are Procambarus marmokrebs, marmokrebs, or marbled crayfish. No matter what you call them they are special because all of them are females and they reproduce via self cloning. The female produces fertilized eggs, carries them on her tail like other crayfish, and then they hatch into tiny versions of the mother. They are cute.

We bought some self cloning crayfish awhile back. I decided to pull them out of the tank they were in and make that a pleco tank. While pulling the smallest of the bunch out I noticed she seemed panicky and was dropping babies! Tiny little ones. I thought that she had kept them all on and kept her and the five little ones she carried with her in a small 2.5 gallon. About 2 days later they got off and walked and grew and so on. They really are adorable. But, last night when checking out the plecos we found at least 8 more in with them. Now I have a lot more than I am ready for. :-P

Many say that they are fish safe. We haven't had very many problems, but I would not recommend them with bottom dwelling fish. We kept one with corydoras for awhile and the corydoras ended up with nipped at fins. We have kept them in planted tanks with very few problems. As long as you feed them they will leave your plants alone and only seem to bother fish that get in their way. They have even been kept with fry. We have been feeding them algae wafers, green beans, cucumber, zucchini, celery, and other vegetables as well as ordinary fish food. They also love plecocaine.

This auction is for three young crayfish. They will be at least an inch in size, but I don't think I have any that small anymore so it is much more likely that they will be larger than that.

Shipping Shipping is $12 (above the cost of the auction). This will cover Priority mail. The crayfish will by shipped in a styrofoam lined box and will be double bagged and wrapped in newspaper.

I ship on Mondays and Tuesdays. Payment is due via PayPal (aidenofthetower@gmail.com). If you have any questions about policies then check out my Just Me page or send me an email.
