Up for bidding are the following awesome pieces of livestock:
  • Two Adult Pairs of N-class Fire Red Flame Tail Endlers (That's 2 females and 2 males)
  • One Trio of N-class Top Yellow Sword Endlers (That's 2 females and 1 male)
  • 10 juvie Blue Pearl Shrimp (adults are pictured below)

Although sometimes referred to as "Endler's guppies," Endlers are not guppies (Poelicia reticulata). Rather, they are a closely related species that was recently (2006) described by a group of German scientists as Poelicia wingei. They were originally collected by evolutionary biologist, Dr. John Endler in 1975 in Lago de los Patos, Venezuela and brought back to the USA, where they became established in the aquarium trade. In the 80's, while traveling in England, Dr. Endler discovered, to his surprise, that his fish had become known in trade as "Endler's Liverbearers." He noted that the fish being sold as Endler's Livebearers had lost much of the color variation present in the original specimens, perhaps because of genetic drift, inbreeding, and/or hybridization with guppies. Native populations of these fish show amazing colors and have a tremendous amount of variation. In the last 15 years, new collections have been made from the populations in and around Lago de los Patos, which, sadly, is threatened by runoff from a nearby garbage dump. (Soon many Endlers wild type color variants may only exist in the aquarium hobby.) The recent collections have added many fabulous new genetic variants to the aquarium trade. Check out Adrian Hernandez's Endlersusa.com for a ton of information about these fish!

The first amazing pure wild stock variant of Endlers we are offering in this auction, is the Fire Red Flame Tail. These are the REDDEST wild stock Endler (No guppy genes) that you will ever find! Our photos are washed out and don't do these fish justice-they are really tough to photograph! We got our Fire Red Flame Tails from Adrian Hernandez (See below link for his pictures). He got the original wild stock from the collector Armando Pou, who collected them near Lago de los Patos, Venezuela. That is why they are N-class Endlers. N-class Endlers are pure-blood Endlers whose origins can be directly traced to wild collections. Adrian selected wild type flame tails for red coloration, and after many generations he obtained some fish that, as you'll see from the pictures, are FIRE ENGINE RED and really pop out in a planted tank!

Our Fire Red Flame Tail Endlers throw about 10% of the beautiful Top Yellow Sword variant. This is because the Fire Red Flame Tail and Top Yellow Sword strains are very closely related and the Fire Red Strain does not breed true. We're going to also include one trio of the beautiful Top Yellow Sword Endler. You can keep these separate from the Fire Reds to improve both strains, or you can keep them together for a little more variation.

Okay, now people....having a tank with small fish in it without shrimp is soooooooo 2005. It's 2011, folks, and now the all of the coolest aquariums on the block have invertebrate cleanup crews. Don't you want to be cool? Well, then you need to win this auction, because the last thing we're going to put in this box is 10 juvie Blue Pearl Shrimp. These shrimps are hardy, attractive, and have a huge appetite for anything that winds up on the bottom of your tank. Call them your ICE BLUE CLEAN UP CREW. We got this strain from Lotsoffish originally, and they are the most prolific and fastest growing shrimps I have even seen. We keep invertebrates in all of our Endlers tanks and they coexist very well. You just need to have some Hornwort and/or Java moss to provide some cover.

We're going to stuff all of this into a box and ship it to you for FREE with a LIVE ARRIVAL GUARANTEE. (No guarantee for any extras included in the box.) We ship via Priority Mail in a Styrofoam-lined box with Kordon breather bags. Heat packs are free. We offer a NO RISK LIVE ARRIVAL GUARANTEE. By no risk, we mean that if your critters arrive DOA, whether it's our fault or the fault of the USPS, we will re-ship them at NO ADDITIONAL COST TO YOU. How many sellers on Aquabid offer that kind of guarantee? Just email us a digital picture of the dead fish in the unopened INNER bag within 2 hrs of the first delivery attempt. We ship to the continental USA only.

Payment is via Paypal only. Send payment within 24 hrs of close of auction to Lexinverts1@gmail.com, please. Contact us with questions at Lexinverts1@gmail.com. Check out our stellar feedback to see how we do business!
