Description

An AWESOME Small Tank Kit!

Fish, Shrimp, Plants, and more!

Hi folks! After a lengthy winter of trying to prevent our roof from caving in and trying to complete a bachelor's degree, I'm back to offer up some of the totally cool things that have been multiplying in the fishroom the last few months. I've got so many critters right now that I don't know what to do with some of them!

Anyway, I'm going to send you everything you need for a super awesome small tank. Everything I offer will fit easily into a 10 gallon tank (though if you start breeding them you'll need more space) - slap a sponge or box filter and a small heater in it, a plant bulb on top, keep the water at 70-72 degrees, maybe a little substrate for the plants, and you're good to go. It's that simple.

First up are 3 pairs of N-class (pure wild stock) Endler's Livebearer (Poecilia wingei). These are some of my favorite nano fish, and my LFS jump at the chance to order them from me because their colors are so eye-catching. The males max out at just under an inch, but shine with electric orange, green, baby blue, and jet black. The ones you'll be getting are black bars, but I have a handful of top yellow sword endlers (also N-class) in my colony, so with luck your females may throw some TYS babies.

Next I'll send a group of 8 juvenile mixed sex Heterandria formosa (Least Killifish). This is the smallest livebearer in the U.S. and it doesn't need a heater to thrive (but they certainly enjoy warm water, too!).

For a scavenging crew, I'll send you 15 red cherry shrimp (Neocaridina heteropoda var. "red"). Like the fish, these guys are temp tolerant (anything from 65-85 works for them) and hardy. They're more ammonia-sensitive than fish, but as far as shrimp go, they're the ideal beginner species. The fish you're getting will not bother the shrimp, in fact, I breed them in the same tanks.

Plant-wise, I'm starting with a nice bunch of golden creeping jenny (Lysimachia nummularia 'Aurea'). Mostly because I have a ton of this stuff and think it's really awesome. This is one of the few aquatic plants that displays yellow to lime green foliage without suffering nutrient deficiencies. Great for color contrasts and, other than a moderate amount of light (which is easy to provide in a small, shallow tank), it's very undemanding. Massachusetts bidders note that this plant is prohibited, I will substitute another species in its place if you win.

Second is a portion of moss. The moss will come in the shrimp bag to give them something to latch onto. As for what kind of moss, I'm going to surprise you. Could be anything from java moss to Riccia, whatever I decide the shrimp might like to latch onto when I pack them. If you have a moss preference, let me know. Anyone who keeps cooler water tanks might like to try my Fontinalis (willow moss).

Next up, I'll include 8 Amazon Frogbit plants (Limnobium laevigatum). This is a floating plant that has nice, long roots that fish and shrimp love to hide in and it provides a cover to keep them from jumping as well. It's also fairly manageable for a floater. California bidders note that I will substitute another floating species in place of this.

I'll also throw in some bonus plants, my choice. The amount of extra plants will be determined by the final bid amount. Rest assured that no matter what you bid, I can cough up enough plants to make it worth your money and then some. I go out of my way to make sure you get a great deal. Though, if you bid a ton of cash, don't expect the plants to fit in a little tank, LOL!

To take care of all these critters, I'll throw in a few sample packets of the various foods I feed them. The good thing about small fish is that they eat small amounts of food, so these little packets should last a couple of weeks.

All of the above will be packed into a box and shipped to your door for $10 via priority mail (or $30 if you prefer express), to anywhere in the U.S. with a live arrival guarantee. Please check your local laws before bidding to make sure the species included aren't prohibited - I can't send cherry shrimp to HI, for instance. If bidding exceeds $50 priority shipping is included. I will combine auctions for a reduced cost if it all fits in the same box. Unless you live in the Arctic Circle, I doubt you'll need a heat pack for these, but if temps are regularly below 40 wherever you are let me know.

Now that you've read all the fine print, here's a recap of what I'm sending you:

- 3 pairs Endler's Livebearers
- 8 Heterandria formosa juveniles
- 15 Red Cherry Shrimp
- a bunch of Golden Creeping Jenny
- Moss
- Bonus Plants
- Food for the Critters

-The bags they're shipped in
- a box
-packing peanuts, bubble wrap, and/or other insulating and cushioning materials.
- Anything Else I Might Decide To Throw In
