Description

Hello folks!
These Killie fish I sell for Ol' Conrad are one of my favorite fish to sell, especially to folks that are new to them. That's why I run them down here in the mixed lots section. I don't want to sell these awesome fish to nut cases that already know about them. I WANT to sell them to nut cases who have NEVER seen one so when these arrive to your door and you open up your fish box your eyes will bug out of your head when you actually see how NICE these fish really look.
I ALWAYS get a follow up E Mail from folks that receive a couple of pairs of the wonderful fish telling me how pleased they are with them and then asking me a couple questions about them so with this auction I am simply going to let you know what you are bidding on and then just cut and paste one of my E Mails I sent back to a customer who received some of these from me for the first time. He wanted to know how to breed them so I gave him my opinion on how I would approach that if I was a beginner with Killie's and just starting out with them.
First of all, if you happen to win this auction this is what you are going to get. One AWESOME Pr. of Aphyosemion australe "orange spotless" and one Pr. of Fundolopanchax gardneri "udi mountain".
Don't let all those big names scare you off.
You can also just call them "Two Pairs of awesome Killie fish".
I am ALSO going to send you a GOOD AMOUNT of high quality foods, 2 Spawning mops, a Microworm culture with instructions, and a really cool Magnifying glass too.
I figure if you try to breed these fish, and you fail, you will then be able to burn holes in them on a sunny day with your magnifying glass.
Oh, and these fish will be just as colorful and awesome looking when you receive them as they are in my photo's below. I know that because I am currently feeding them large amounts of my awesome "lotsoffish #2 fish food" here in my fish room.
Now, here is one of my responses to an E Mail I recently received concerning how to spawn these super cool little fish-

Hello Arthur,

You really never had killies before? That's awesome.

Well, you picked a very nice species to get your feet wet with, expensive too!

These Killies you now have are an African species and they are really very interesting fish. The one's I sent you are very young and you can expect them to live about 18 Months for you. Caution! They are jumpers so I hope you are going to have them covered well tonight.

I don't really know how much breeding you have done but these fish will be a lot of fun to breed if you take the time to get good at it. There are a couple ways to breed them and you really outta try both of them just for the practice. And before I even tell you anything else let me just tell you that in my opinion it is NOT hard breeding most egg layers. In fact it's pretty dam easy IF you actually TRY to breed them. The ONE RULE above all others you need to be aware of with egg layers is you can NOT breed most egg layers in community tanks. That's because fish eggs are like treats to fish. They ALL LOVE eating fish eggs. I know folks with 3 or 4 tanks that breed TONS of egg layers and I know folks with 50 tanks running that NEVER have any luck with egg layers and that is because those folks with 50 tanks pretty much have 50 community tanks.

Here would be the absolute easiest way for you to breed these 2 Pr's of Killies. Set up a breeding tank.

That means tomorrow or next chance you get, take a 10 gallon bare tank, add one sponge filter to it, a heater, and something for them to lay their eggs on. I would use 2 bunches (handfuls) of hornwort. Then AFTER the tank is all set up and running add both FEMALES only and feed them well for about 4 days. It won't take long and they were already sorta fat and laying eggs while I had them here. The after 4 days of them being in the tank alone and eating well add both those males and keep feeding all 4 fish heavily for the next 2 weeks. During those two weeks you WILL see them breeding in those plants but don't do anything other than watch them. The females will keep laying eggs each day but killies are NOT bad egg eaters so they will leave those eggs alone. (Other fish would eat them in a heartbeat though and that's why folks never have luck breeding egg layers in community tanks).

Now, it takes about 18 days for that species eggs to start hatching, and what that means is, you can let them breed for about 2 weeks (18 days) and since they won't eat their own eggs you will keep getting more and more eggs in the tank. Then after 2 weeks you want to simply catch all 4 fish and THEN you can put them back in to one of your community tanks cuz if you don't remove them from the breeding tank they WILL eat the fry that are about to start hatching.

See how that works?

So since they laid eggs for a couple weeks in a row now that means you are going to have eggs hatching for a couple weeks in a row. Ain't that cool? The fist eggs should start hatching at about the same time you remove the parents and as soon as you see them swimming you need to start feeding them and that is when the Microworms AND 05-50 Micron Golden pearls come in. They need SMALL foods. And that in a nutshell is how I would breed them if I was you. That is the best way to spawn these type of Killies your first time trying them.

Later, when you have that way mastered then you can get bolder and instead of just moving the adults you can actually "pick" your own eggs and then hatch the eggs themselves and that's when that mop and magnifying glass comes in to play.

Any questions?
